    Biography

    Experienced arbitration lawyer. Active participant representing the Peruvian State, private, and public entities in international and domestic arbitrations in high regulated sectors, specially energy, concessions, and construction, with seats in Europe, USA, and Latin America, under the most important arbitration rules of the world (ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL, and CIAC). Committed to the improvement of arbitration by founding a non-profit organization to promote best practices in the area, coach of young law students who participate in International Arbitration Competitions (Moots), speaker, and publishED books and articles.

    Among the most relevant matters Ms. Espejo has been and is involved are the following:

    • She has been part of teams that have represented the Peruvian State, state entities and private companies in international and national arbitrations, regarding various matters such as energy, hydrocarbons, mining, private investment and concessions, among others.
    • She has been part of the team that together with White & Case LLP represented the Republic of Peru in the case Renco Group Inc v. Republic of Peru. One of the largest investment arbitrations that Peru has dealt with. First arbitration under the Investment Chapter of the Peru – United States Free Trade Agreement.
    • She has been part of the team that together with White & Case LLP represent the Republic of Peru in the case Exeteco Internacional Company S.L. v. Republic of Peru, Ad hoc UNCITRAL arbitration, regarding a public bid for the concession for the construction of a prison in Northern Peru.
    • She has worked in an international commercial arbitration related to License Contracts for the exploitation of hydrocarbons in Peru, with seat in New York and under the rules of the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission.
    • She has worked and she is currently working in international commercial arbitrations related to an infrastructure concession contract with seat in Paris, under the International Arbitral Chamber of Paris.
    • She has worked and she is currently working in international commercial arbitrations related to an infrastructure concession contract with seat in Washington D.C., under UNCITRAL Rules.
    • She is currently representing an international organism in an international arbitration related to a construction contract with seat in Mexico, under UNCITRAL Rules.
    • She has worked in an international commercial arbitration linked to the execution of a contract for services of supervision of works, under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce of Paris.
    • Also, she is currently part of the team representing private companies in different national arbitrations, mainly linked to contracts for the execution of public works, technology services, power supply, among others.
