  • Biography

    Leader of the Firm's Dispute Prevention and Resolution area, which includes both arbitration and litigation. She has more than twenty-five years of recognized experience leading highly complex processes and arbitrations in the fields of energy, infrastructure and investment, among others, both national and international. She is in constant demand as arbitrator and is a member of the most prestigious arbitration institutions.

    About her work, Chambers & Partners has highlighted that Ana María Arrarte is "a «superb litigator» highly recognized in the area" of arbitration and judicial litigation, as well as that she "wins praise from clients for the «leadership, strength and experience» she demonstrates in disputes".

  • Experience

    • Has successfully advised Gilat to Home Perú S.A. in a complex arbitration initiated against the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Telecommunications Investment Fund (with participation of OSIPTEL) for breach of the concession contract and financing agreements, obtaining for the client an indemnity of more than thirteen million dollars.
    • Successfully advised HudBay Perú in a bilingual arbitration (Spanish and English) initiated by one of its former contractors of the Constancia Project (Cusco), achieving that the Arbitral Tribunal dismissed the claim of its counterpart, who claimed more than eight million dollars.
    • Has provided successful legal advice to the Committee for Economic Operations of the National Interconnected System (COES) in arbitration proceedings brought by members challenging the decisions of the Board of Directors on electricity matters, achieving satisfactory results for COES.
    • Successfully advised América Móvil in an administrative litigation proceeding, defending the validity of an INDECOPI resolution favorable to the client, valued at more than four hundred and fifty million dollars.

    Ana Maria is a constant contributor to important legal journals that publish her articles and works on arbitration and dispute resolution, and is regularly invited as speaker to national and international events.

    • Author of many articles on matters related with her speciality (diffuse interests, duty to provide motivation, res judicata, joint litigants and third parties intervention, procedural annulment, motivation for arbitration awards, execution of arbitration awards, relation between Arbitration Jurisdiction and Judicial Jurisdiction, arbitrations related with public works, among others) in several local and foreign legal magazines.
