The Executive Branch has approved the one-time provision of an extraordinary bonus, in the amount of PEN 210, in favor of formal workers in the private sector who meet the following requirements:

  • Appear on the Electronic Payroll as worker of a private sector employer during the months of July, August and September 2021
  • Receive a maximum monthly gross remuneration of up to PEN 2,000 during the working period

Neither the workers nor the company must perform any procedure to access this benefit. The entity in charge of making the payment will use the information in the Electronic Payroll.

For the time being, no increase in the Minimum Living Wage (RMV) has been implemented, as initially announced, although it has been decided to temporarily increase the income of formal workers through the bonus. Note that an RMV increase in the following months has not been ruled out.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment Promotion (MTPE) must approve the regulatory provisions that are necessary for the delivery of the extraordinary bonus within 30 calendar days, that is, until 15 December 2021. For now, the following conditions have been established:

  • The MTPE will provide the Social Services (Essalud) with a list of workers who are eligible to receive the special bonus.
  • The extraordinary bonus may be delivered through Banco de la Nación or any other entity of the financial system, as well as electronic money companies, which may even use cards.
  • Companies in the financial system and electronic money companies may open accounts, in bulk or individually, in the name of the beneficiary workers, without the need for the workers' acceptance.
  • The delivery of the special bonus does not alter the amount of remuneration, as well as the calculation and payment of labor benefits and other contributions. In addition, it cannot be received by the heirs in the event of death.
  • For a period of 150 calendar days from the transfer, the voucher may not be subject to compensation, attachment, retention or other affectation.
  • The collection of the extraordinary bonus can be made effective until 31 March, 2022. From April 2022, Essalud will start the return of the amounts not collected in favor of the MTPE.
