Peru: Modifications to the prior consultation process for the electricity subsector

    Description

We have extensive experience advising on electricity matters and on generation (both renewable and conventional), transmission and distribution activities. We know that these industries are highly specialized; therefore, we collaborate with engineers and economists in order to understand the problems of our clients and propose integral solutions.

We have actively participated in the privatization and concession of the most important companies in the sector, which has given us special strength in this area. Our specialists have collaborated directly in the design of the legal framework that facilitated the process of privatization of the electricity market, as well as in the preparation of regulations and guidelines that promote a definitive liberalization of the electricity market in Peru to private and foreign investment.

Our practice covers all the needs of our clients — from project development to accompanying the clients in obtaining all permits, licenses and land rights, and in negotiating and executing the agreements necessary for the project. Additionally, our practice covers regulatory consulting, as well as representing our clients in disputes (arbitration, administrative and judicial processes). As to our transactional experience, we work alongside other practice areas to provide advice on M&A transactions, as well as on financing operations (project finance, debt issuance, etc.).

We accompany our clients throughout the process, providing not only legal advice but also trust.
